Inclusive Play Park Signage
Elliston Inclusive Play Park Signage
The park interpretive signage builds on the concept of creating a “safe play environment” without being overly restrictive or filled with excessive
rules and prohibitions.
The signage content and graphic language were designed to be inclusive and cater to children with additional needs, while clearly communicating the idea of “safe play.”
We worked closely with landscape designer Matt York and an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) consultant, who provided recommendations and feedback on the structure, pacing, and presentation of the information.
The signs aim to maximize interaction between the children, presenting information in an engaging, hands-on way.
The signage infrastructure draws from the park’s play and building color palette and uses graphic forms reflective of the agricultural history and crops grown in this area.
